Flagstar Bank is seeking commercial loan workout officers to join its team of commercial loan workout specialists.   Successful applicants will actively manage to satisfactory resolution specifically assigned troubled, substandard, and impaired loans within Flagstar’s approximately $2.0 billion commercial loan portfolio.   These loss mitigation efforts require committed individuals who will diligently apply both their analytic and creative skills and business judgment to maximize the value and minimize the risk of each loan assigned to them. 
Selected individuals will specialize in one of the following portfolio types:
- Residential Land Development- Retail Shopping Centers- Office Space- Multi-family- Retail Single Tenant- Warehouse/Industrial
Each successful applicant will:
· Manage,  monitor, and regularly report to senior management regarding  a specifically assigned subset of “classified” commercial loans in accordance with the Bank’s commercial loan policy and guidelines; · Analyze assigned customer loan relationships and proactively recommend appropriate steps to forestall or minimize asset deterioration and, when necessary, to maximize recoveries;· Design customer-specific workout plans;· Meet with borrowers to negotiate commercial loan workouts that may include forbearance plans, loan modifications, voluntary and involuntary receiverships, marshalling of assets, and asset sales;· Work with internal and “outside” legal counsel and staff to facilitate the timely documentation and implementation of workout plans or, when necessary, recourse to legal remedies;· Monitor compliance with workout plans and the condition/performance of the bank’s collateral; and· Accept responsibility for his or her actions and decisions.
Position Requirements
· Minimum 2 years’ commercial loan workout or related experience, which could include legal practice or paralegal support;  · Credit training (with a strong preference for formal training from a respected organization or financial institution); · Familiarity with the various types and uses of legal remedies available to secured lenders; · Undergraduate or graduate degree (or equivalent training in or familiarity with) in finance or accounting (or a degree from an accredited law school); · Strong analytic skills and excellent oral and written communication skills; · Proficiency with Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint;· A strong desire and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and external advisors; and· A genuine commitment to personal- and enterprise-level excellence and growth.
