Full-Time Software Support Analyst

Job Description

Responsible for researching and analyzing data processing practices and procedures and develops solutions and recommendations for improvement. Completes complex programming assignments by defining specifications, writing new or modified code, and testing the code to verify the program. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds promptly to Client/Server problem/issue calls/emails, analyses these problems/issues and is able to correct or suggest the proper group to handle these problems/issues.
  • Develops requirements for system enhancements.
  • Conducts research and documents findings and recommendations by using analytical problem solving.
  • Provides support and conducts applications training and testing.
  • Conducts QA testing for new products and enhancements.
  • Develops technical designs that will meet system objectives and minimize the impact on operations.
  • Codes/fixes programs that interface with multiple applications.
  • Advises personnel on software conversion and installation activities.
  • Prepares operations and system manuals documentation.
  • Modifies programs that are command driven.
  • Provides applications development and support and utilizes troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.
  • Responsible for software installation and maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in a related area, or equivalent experience 

Experience:

3-5 years with a minimum 2 years programming; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge/Experience in the following areas is strongly preferred: Java, .Net, SQL and JIRA – Issue & Project Tracking Software. FoxPro experience is a big plus but not required. 

Qualifications, Skills Abilities and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage large workload, while producing quality work in a fast-pace environment with interruptions and deadlines.  
  • Considerable knowledge of structured programming technology for structured language environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of applications/development methodologies.
  • Considerable knowledge of appropriate operating systems, programming languages (Java, C#, .NET, etc.), and development tools.
  • Skill in operating independently.
  • Skill in exhibiting solid analysis, decision-making, and problem solving.
  • Ability to assess requirements, alternatives, and risks/benefits for low-to-medium impact projects.
  • Ability to develop a mid-size project plan (i.e., a plan that affects a single system or family and multiple resources) using approved project management software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors and public.
  • Ability to contribute to building a strong and positive team spirit as well as align with GSP values
