Job Description

 

Major Duties:

–        Support youth through an ongoing one-to-one or group relationship. Serve as a positive role model and friend.

–        Build a relationship by participating in activities in the after school program and during the regular school day.

–        Strive for mutual respect between mentor and mentee.

–        Build self-esteem and motivation in the mentee.

–        Create and implement unique lesson plans based on weekly themes for mentees.

–        Assist mentee with setting goals to achieve academic and personal success.

–        Will communicate with youth openly and without judgment.

–        Interest in needs and concerns of persons with internal and external barriers to achieve success.

–        Has sensitivity to persons of different educational, economic, cultural or racial backgrounds.

–        Practical problem solving skills and ability to suggest options and alternatives.

–        Must be able to adapt to change in work environment, accept criticism and feedback, effectively handle multiple tasks and competing demands, work cooperatively in group situations, and work actively to resolve conflicts.
