Part-Time Film Proofer

Job Description

Reporting to the Screen print Production Manager, the Film Proofer is responsible for but not limited to; ensuring a consistent and efficient workflow for print Production department and assisting with Digital work flow as needed. Position performs quality control of films produced by printers as part of the production process.

This position is a 2nd shift (1:30 -10:00pm) and is classified as a flex position. Flex positions typically work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. During the 2 weeks “on”, you will likely work weekends and 10-15 hours each week of overtime.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Quality control assurance of all developed film positives through detailed inspection
  • Maintain proper media levels for film output devices
  • Report poor quality to production artists and or art director
  • Scan all approved film positives through POP Director
  • Stage completed jobs in art bins
  • Update production GTR on all completed jobs
  • Manage communications with the print production supervisor and lead burner as it relates to production priorities
  • Establish, manage and prioritize film output set by established guidelines
  • Data entry on film usage for both medias (Aspect and AGFA)
  • General maintenance of both film output devises (Aspect and AGFA)
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for Aspect and AGFA medias
  • General housekeeping of the pre-press department
  • Maintaining rip settings
  • Assist with digital workflow when required
  • Complete all daily film output and accuracy reporting
  • Rotation and disposal of expired or outdated monthly film inventory
  • Maintain supplies and a clean work area
  • Assist in other areas of Production when required
  • Detail orientation with the ability to identify quality issues by proofing film
  • Enthusiastic team member capable of monthly film inventory management

Qualifications:

  • Must speak and read English with proficiency
  • Knowledge and understanding of SMR/Print procedures and priorities
  • Knowledge and understand of step-by-step procedures of burning using different frame types and exposing methods for four-color process and spot color
  • Good initiative, self-motivated
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to work weekends or on varied shifts

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
