Rapidly growing oil and gas exploration and production company is seeking to hire a PRODUCTION ENGINEER for their Houston office. This company’s portfolio of assets is located in some of the fastest growing oil and natural gas shale plays in the country.
This position is for the candidate whose goal is to be in a position where they can actively participate in and contribute to the growth of the company and in return know their contributions will be rewarded. The company offers a very competitive compensation package.
The PRODUCTION ENGINEER will primarily be responsible for handling production engineering assignments of a broad scope and handling relatively complex reservoir engineering assignments to support Permian Basin assets. Incumbent may serve as a project leader on assignments requiring a relatively broad knowledge of production engineering and possibly assist in training junior level Engineers. Duties to include:
• Maintain producing properties at a maximum economic rate within governmental and contractual requirements.
• Conduct facility analysis and Production/Field Reviews; facility optimization to include debottlenecking.
• Artificial and assisted lift design, implementation, surveillance and enhancement using: rod pumps, gas lift, plungers, ESP’s of various pump designs (centrifugal and positive displacement), jet pumps, plungers
• Support well integrity issues.
• Design new completions for existing wellbores.
• Identify opportunities to apply new technology and improve performance.
• Integrate safe practices and regulatory compliance into all procedures, plans and projects
• Day to day engineering support to field operations.
• Use real time data, field reports, decline curves, pressure information, wireline information, rates, etc., to support daily well surveillance to meet production targets.
• Prepare procedures and AFE’s packages for well intervention activities such as, production logging, artificial lift, well remediation, stimulations, electric line, slick line, coiled tubing, etc.
• Track AFE cost performance to ensure AFE’s are written with a prudent amount of funds for the work to be performed.
• Identify areas to reduce capital and operating expenses by recommending changes to practices, facilities or well design that accomplish cost savings.
• Coordinate activities and resolution of problems that affect engineering projects with land, reservoir, drilling, field operations, accounting, etc. to ensure efficiency.
• Review lease operating statements to identify cost saving opportunities.
• Enhance base production by identifying programs that make significant impact.
• Oversee and evaluate contractors.
• Support reservoir engineering and geological requests.
• Support the preparation or prepare budgets and asset development plans.
• Review completed work projects to enhance efficiency and success of future projects.
• Review field compression for optimization by removing, adding or relocating compression to address future projects that impact compression.
• Prepare contract specifications, Statements of Work and Requests for Quotations as necessary to support work projects of assignments.
• Model wellbores with NODAL type analysis or pump programs to determine if wells have been optimized.
• Responsible for field facility design and optimization from the wellhead to the custody transfer points for oil and gas streams.
• Assist in Management of Change and Process Hazard Analysis.
• Review existing working process to expose problems then apply engineering techniques to solve problems and update processes with recommendations.
• Attempt to utilize the latest technology that is sound while applying engineering practices.
• Oversee or perform tubing and packer movement analysis and be responsible for all inputs to the analysis.
• Ensure anything in procedures or assignments that has a long lead time is ordered on time to avoid delays.
• Review existing tank, pressure vessel, motor, pump, compressor and other related equipment design fitness and create AFE packages to address safety, regulatory, reliability or economic issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS Degree in Petroleum Engineering related discipline
• Minimum 6 years of experience - Permian and shale experience preferred
• Previous experience with electric line and slickline operations and previous surface facility work with wellsite batteries and compression is highly desired.
• Nodal analysis experience highly desired.
• Willing to work high visibility projects.
• Enjoys a high performance, fast-paced team environment
• Previous experience with high pressure gas well work (in excess of 7,500 psig).
• Legal authorization to work full time in the US without sponsorship
