Google Wave for Jobs?

Posted by | November 19, 2009 | Technology

Seems like a possibility does it not? Open a wave enter some details about the position, make it search friendly by adding the contact called [email protected]…See who finds it.

In the high tech fields I see this working extremely well. Candidates could be given a test, or asked to submit a resume. Makes a lot of sense. Wave corporate hiring communities, complete with a resume drop box and a method for a potential hire to leave a customized message viewable by management or HR.

Job Waves….Hey we are hiring see us over here waving!!!!

Here is an interesting concept in SEO & Content management. Interact media has built a platform that allows its users to manage all aspects of a full blown SEO content development campaign. Traditionally an organization would hire many different entities to perform the tasks that are managed with relative ease from Interact media’s simple and easy to use dashboard.

The use of a SEO copywriter will ensure that your content is unique, grammatically correct and search engine friendly. If you are in the marketing for seo content. We highly recommend using a professional like Interact Media. Whether you are looking to build backlinks, or purchase copywriting services you will be glad that you chose these professionals.

When we look around we see a lot of information. We see who is hiring I mean after all we do run a job board. So this post is dedicated to those that are looking for work in the state of Florida.

Florida is home to many companies, has the blah blah blah largest workforce demographic. Look, I know all that stuff is irrelevant what you need to know is where are the jobs.

MyFlorida is a good place to start looking for jobs with the state of Florida. When you Google “Florida jobs” they are one of the first results.

Jobing lists several local employers and seems to be one of the new generations of job boards. Many positions and if you have not been looking there you are definitely missing out.

JobHunt.org maintains an extensive list of links to many unique florida job sites, including private companies and state agencies. Another can’t miss site to check out for Florida Jobs.

From a job boards perspective….We know that in this economy the bulk of the jobs are in Sales, Medical, and Finance. These sectors are dominating every other category with the amount of jobs to be found online.

As always we hope this information helps you in some way. We wish we could help everyone find a job, hopefully some of the information we pass along helps you.

Vacation Rentals vs a Hotel

Sometime you just have to get away. If you are able to break away from the job search or the daily grind, I highly recommend heading up to the mountains. From northern Georgia to western North Carolina are some really secluded and quiet vacation cabins.

We stayed at a place we found online. A three bedroom log cabin, with huge hearth & fireplace, an outdoor jacuzzi, full kitchen and wrap around scenic deck. There are several activities within a few miles such as horseback riding and class 3 river rapids. The river tour is in a two person kayak with a guide that is fun and refreshingly scenic.

Booking this cabin was comparable in price to a night in a much smaller room at a luxury hotel. When I head to Northern Georgia I like to stay near Helen. Another place if the mountains are not your thing, maybe you just might like the beach. Crescent beach is close to St. Augustine. Quiet yet close to the attractions that make the ancient city a great stop.

Take a look at vacation home rental for a list of places to book online.

Where to Post Work

Posted by | November 12, 2009 | Social Recruiting

When you need post work, you have a job to fill.  It can be difficult to determine where to post those jobs. Unfortunately there are not a lot of low cost solutions. Most high traffic job boards are very expensive and deliver sub standard results. Some work some do not. Where then should you go for your job advertising needs.

There are a few low cost sites like jobshouts.com and craiglist.org . JobShouts is scraped by the three major aggregators, Simply Hired, Indeed, and JuJu. Jobs are also pushed to twitter, facebook, identica, and friendfeed. Soon free job ads will be limited to 1 per month. Try out the service and see what kind of results you get.

Post Work at craigslist as well. Most cities are still free, the major markets have a fee for posting job ads. You will get responses from craigs list for a lot of positions from programmers to carpenters, we highly recommend you try that as well too.

JobShouts.com has been working really hard to transition to next level and build something of true value to employers, recruiters and job seekers.

For employers and recruiters, our newest tool is now in beta testing and we need your help and feedback! We’ve put together a search tool we call Social Search, that allows you to search multiple social networks in one click. You can search for specific skill sets on social networks such as Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace, LinkedIn, VisualCV, Spoke, Jigsaw and more (we can release additional networks as they come online)

Check out Social Search, see what it can do help streamline your pipeline development. Do a search, search for PHP in Dallas, “Business Analyst” in Ontario, Cosmetologist in NYC – anything!  From these results, you can click through to the social profiles to view them. Our “Shout Bar” will iframe the profile and allow you to “Star This” candidate for later evaluation. (the “star this” feature is not fully developed at this time, so while you can star candidates, you don’t have the ability to view them) That’s a feature reserved for premium employers.

We’d like to gauge interest in this tool to help us determine value, pricing, etc. For now, it’s free. 😀 Tell all your friends and let us know what you think! Comments, questions – all feedback is welcome!!

Like most job seekers, you’ve no doubt applied to job listings on the major career boards like Monster, CareerBuilder and HotJobs. In doing so, you’ve likely seen little or no response to some applications although you keep seeing that same job every time you log in.

It’s frustrating as a job seeker to see the same job over and over, knowing you’ve applied and are qualified for the job but haven’t been contacted. Why does this happen? Are they looking for the “perfect” candidate?

No.

Chances are they aren’t even really looking for a candidate.
