Argent Technologies, LLC is seeking an RN to provide patient care at the Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center at JBSA, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX
Qualifications:
- Possess current licensure as registered nurse
- Possession of current Certification in Hyperbaric Registered Nursing (CHRN) sponsored by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine is mandatory OR if RN does not already possess CHRN, the applicant must obtain an initial Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine Society approved 40 hour course and the CHRN certifying examination. The hyperbaric medicine department will provide the practical “hands on” portion of the required training for the CHRN. The RN must obtain the CHRN within six months of date of hire.
- Obtain biannual recertification as CHRN.
- Possess current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (www.heart.org)
Duties:
- Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Assesses patients. Uses the nursing process as a basis for professional practice. Demonstrates proper preparation of patients for treatments and procedures, to include surgical interventions. Provides proper care and evaluation of post-procedural patients.
- Effectively communicates plans/actions and collaborates with a diverse healthcare team for the benefit of the patient, family and organization. Effectively educates patients and families regarding involvement in the plan of care, promotion of self -care, management of symptoms, and follow-up care.
- Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
- Maintains accountability for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
- Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant and timely information to these groups, and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
- Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety in accordance with regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide advanced wound care for patients including, but not limited to, negative pressure wound dressings, applying advanced dressings, topical therapies, and applying multilayer compression dressings. Administer oral, IV, PICC, and central line medications as required.
- Oversee the function and appropriate care rendered by the License Vocational Nurse to patients being evaluated and treated in the hyperbaric and wound care center.
- Required to collect and appropriately label routine digital images of wounds and maintain a secure image library to account for patient wound progress.
