Our consulting firm is looking for a well-qualified Cost Accounting Director to support our client on an interim engagement. Our client is looking for someone with ambitious as they will have exposure to a lot of hands-on accounting.   

The ideal candidates will have 3 or more years experience with relevant cost accounting experience. A CPA and/or MBA with Big Four experience is highly desirable. Job Description

This position is responsible to ensure accuracy of costing and pricing, specifically in the area of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and to provide analysis for use in operational decision-making.

• Establish annual standards for material, labor, and overhead.
• Monthly tracking and maintenance of standard cost compared to actual cost and moving average cost.
• Conduct product profit margin analysis (sales, standard cost, freight, manufacturing variances, administration expenses).
• Ensure the accuracy of plant product cost criteria (i.e. material, labor, factory overhead, etc).
• Ensure accuracy of data provided by vendors for cost control.
• Provide analysis and explanation for fluctuations in inventory balances.
• Post monthly journal vouchers as they relate to inventory, sales, cost of sales, manufacturing variances, etc.
• Perform inventory/cost of sales account reconciliations.

 

Required Skills

• Knowledge of plant manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of cost accounting principles as established by GAAP.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.  
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of management, oversee one cost accountant.
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects/requests.
• Possesses the skills to continuously drive process improvement. .
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent time management and organization skills.

 

Required Experience 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
• 5+ years experience in cost accounting.  
• Experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment. 
• Experience with large production scale.
